The 36-year-old was leading his team, Mohammedan Sporting Club, in the domestic 50-over competition when he began feeling unwell shortly after the toss.
Tamim, who initially showed no signs of discomfort, reported the pain during the early stages of the match. On-field medical staff immediately provided first aid before transporting him to a hospital located in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

Tariqul Islam, a team representative, requested fans and well-wishers to pray for Tamim’s speedy recovery, stating that he was receiving appropriate medical care.
In response to the situation, the BCB postponed its scheduled board meeting for the day, with several members rushing to the hospital to be by the former captain’s side.
Tamim Iqbal, a high-profile figure in Bangladesh cricket, enjoyed a stellar career that spanned over 16 years. He played in 391 matches across all formats between 2007 and 2023, amassing over 15,000 runs. Notably, Tamim is the only Bangladeshi cricketer to score centuries in Tests, ODIs, and T20 Internationals.
