Saudi Arabia, along with the UAE and Qatar, will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, marking the end of Ramazan, while Oman and Iran have set their celebrations for Monday. The festival comes amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Saudi Arabia has officially announced that Eidul Fitr, the festival marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramazan, will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025. The Royal Court confirmed the decision through a statement from the Supreme Court, which was published via the official Saudi Press Agency on X. This announcement follows the sighting of the crescent moon, an essential practice in the Islamic lunar calendar to determine the end of Ramazan.
The UAE and Qatar have also declared that Eidul Fitr will commence on Sunday, aligning with Saudi Arabia. However, neighboring Oman and Iran have set Monday, March 31, 2025, as the date for their Eid celebrations.
In Pakistan, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) had previously forecasted that Eidul Fitr would likely fall on March 31, based on scientific predictions for the moon's visibility on Sunday.
Unfortunately, this year’s Ramazan celebrations were overshadowed by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The humanitarian crisis has taken a devastating toll, with over 50,000 people, primarily women and children, losing their lives due to Israeli military strikes, according to Gaza's health ministry. The conflict, which erupted after a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 1,170 Israelis, has drawn widespread criticism, with many accusing Israel of responding disproportionately.
