NSC Briefed on Foreign Involvement in Terrorism, RAW’s Role in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad: The Parliamentary Committee on National Security (NSC) convened on Tuesday under the leadership of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, where the Director General of Military Operations (DG MO) provided a comprehensive intelligence briefing on the rising wave of terrorism, foreign interference, and ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Pakistan.

The briefing underscored the direct involvement of India’s intelligence agency RAW and elements within Afghanistan in fueling terrorism, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Officials detailed how terrorist networks, including the Taliban factions, are receiving financial aid, training, and advanced foreign-made weaponry to orchestrate attacks against Pakistan’s armed forces, security installations, and civilians.

RAW and Afghanistan’s Role in Pakistan’s Security Crisis

According to intelligence reports, RAW-backed terrorist groups are actively working to destabilize Pakistan by leveraging safe havens in Afghanistan. Officials provided evidence of Afghan soil being used to plan and execute cross-border terrorism, with the Jaffar Express attack cited as a recent example.

Additionally, the briefing revealed that Afghan nationals were involved in the Bannu Cantt attack, further intensifying security concerns regarding border control and infiltration.

Escalating Terror Threats Ahead of Ramadan

Security agencies warned that terrorist activities are expected to increase ahead of Ramadan, with a strategic focus on targeting security forces and disrupting public peace in Balochistan and KP. The briefing included classified intelligence reports, visual presentations, and real-time security assessments, outlining Pakistan’s proactive counter-terrorism strategies.

The DG MO detailed the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s military and law enforcement agencies, emphasizing that despite challenges, the armed forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.

COAS General Asim Munir’s Strong Message on National Security

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir addressed the NSC session, delivering a powerful statement on the importance of national security, counter-terrorism efforts, and governance reforms.

"For sustainable development, all elements of national power must work in coordination. This is a battle for our survival and that of future generations," General Munir asserted.

He emphasized the urgent need to make Pakistan a "hard state"—a stable, secure, and uncompromising nation that prioritizes its strategic and national interests over any external pressures or internal divisions.

Parliamentary Committee Condemns Terrorism, Calls for National Unity

Following the high-level security briefing, the Parliamentary Committee on National Security issued a strongly worded statement, unequivocally condemning the recent surge in terrorist attacks. The committee expressed deep solidarity with the victims and their families, vowing to provide full support to Pakistan’s security forces and intelligence agencies in their relentless battle against extremism.

The meeting also emphasized the need for stronger digital regulations to counter the growing misuse of social media platforms by terrorist outfits. The committee called for advanced cyber intelligence mechanisms to dismantle digital extremist networks and prevent the spread of radical ideologies.

Implementation of the National Action Plan and Counter-Terrorism Measures

The committee reiterated the urgent implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and the Resilience Strategy, stressing the need for a unified national stance against terrorism. It warned that those collaborating with enemy forces will not succeed in their nefarious objectives.

In closing, the NSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to strengthen internal security, counter foreign-sponsored terrorism, and ensure national stability through coordinated intelligence efforts and military operations.

The meeting concluded with a resounding declaration of national unity, reinforcing that Pakistan’s sovereignty and security remain non-negotiable and that the entire nation stands firmly with its armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
