A court in Islamabad has remanded 25 students in custody after rejecting a request for an extension to their physical remand over visa fraud charges.
Court Rejects Remand Extension, Grants Judicial Custody
In a recent ruling, the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has ordered 25 students to be jailed for attempting to enter the United Kingdom using fraudulent visas. The court dismissed the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) plea for an extension of the students' physical remand, placing them in judicial custody for a 14-day period instead.
Presented before Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal, the students were accused of tampering with passports in an attempt to illegally settle in the UK. During the court proceedings, defense attorneys filed bail applications on behalf of the accused students.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 24, during which legal arguments regarding the bail applications will be heard.
